Following on from our work on air resistance and gravity last week, we made marshmallow shooters out of a plastic cup and a balloon and had to explain why the marshmallow slows down and eventually gets pulled back down to Earth. At the end we did a video to show what great fun we had had.
Today we started our new Literacy topic of "persuasive adverts". We talked about the adverts that we see in everyday life and created a list of success criteria. Having decided that one criteria was a song that rhymes some of us decided to have a go at writing a short rhyming jingle for an iPad. You decide if you think this "performance" would persuade you to buy an iPad.
This week in Literacy we have been writing setting descriptions to show off to Mr Dale exactly what we can put in our writing. We then downloaded the photos we were using into iMovie and narrated our descriptions over the top of them.
Today we looked at air resistance and experimented to see who would win in a race with someone running normally, someone holding a giant piece of paper and someone holding the whiteboard. Don't worry, although it looks like it, nobody was harmed in this investigation!
Here is our actual performance from the decades show that we put on at school.
Here is one of our rehearsals for the decades performance on Friday.
In computing we ave been learning some basic iMovie techniques such as putting videos together, adding audio and shortening and lengthening clips through slow motion. We borrowed the idea from Justin Timberlake in his "Can't Stop the Feeling" video.
Below is the original video and underneath that, our own attempts.
