It was wonderful to have so many parents join us and Key Stage 1 for Christmas Craft Morning! The children , parents and staff had a great time!
The children are really enjoying our topic 'Frozen'. To support our topic we have read the book 'The Great Explorer' by Chris Judge, which is all about a boy called Tom who sets out on a journey to rescue his dad from the North Pole.
We have used the globe and maps to learn about the polar regions of the world as well as think about where we live. We have built shelters and igloos and designed boats and hot air balloons. We have investigated ice, explored magnetism and learnt about floating and sinking. We also had Mrs Dale, who works as a children's nurse come in and talk about her role in helping others.
This half term we have also thought about how to keep ourselves safe when using the internet and found out about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night.
All the children in EYFS had their own free copy of the book ‘The Bumblebear’ by the author Nadia Shireen to enjoy and share at home as part of the Time to Read campaign.
We also read the book in class and listened to Nadia Shireen read the story aloud on the interactive whiteboard.
Nadia Shireen is a British author who lives in London. As a child she enjoyed making her own magazines and comic books. As she grew older she started to write and illustrate children’s books.
We talked about how and why Hindu people celebrate Diwali, meaning the festival of light. We watched the story of Rama and Sita and talked about good and bad, right and wrong. We enjoyed learning about Diwali by making our own Diva lamps, Rangoli patterns and Diwali cards to share with our family and friends.

We have really enjoyed our topic about senses. We have learnt all about sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. Its been great fun going on listening walks, planting herbs, making bread, using instruments and colour mixing! We have been so busy, here are a few pictures!
We have really enjoyed our visit from Zoolab today. We met lots of animals, such as Sid the snake and Flash the mouse. We have been learning about our five senses at school. We used our sense of sight to look at the animals and our sense of touch to feel them. It was great fun!
The children are settling into school really well. Here are a few pictures of us enjoying dinner time.
