It has been great to observe the life-cycle of the butterflies. We have watched carefully as they grew from tiny caterpillars into huge caterpillars, became chrysalis and eventually emerged as butterflies.
We have been busy reading the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We have enjoyed our giants kitchen role play, planted beans, written instructions for magic beans, measured some of the giant's objects from his castle, made buildings from Jack's village based on an aerial view from the top of the beanstalk and drawn scenes from the story on the laptops.
We started the new term listening to the children's Easter news, wow, what a busy bunch of children!
We are really enjoying the story 'The Three Little Pigs'. It has been great fun retelling the story, constructing and designing buildings on the construction sites and looking at real bricks, straw and sticks.
We are looking forward to designing our own houses to keep out the big, bad wolf and further investigating materials in our science work!
We are really enjoying learning about the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We have been busy in our class bakery baking Gingerbread Men and other treats, building bridges to help get the Gingerbread Man cross the river, retelling the story on the small world table and with puppets, making playdough Gingerbread men with ginger scented playdough and going on a Gingerbread Man hunt!
Last week we enjoyed dancing as a Chinese dragon with class3, eating chinese food and learning all about Chinese New Year.
